WHAT IS A SMART LIGHTING SYSTEM?
Smart lighting is a technology based way of controlling the lights in a home or building. So called Smart LED bulbs are designed with software that connects to an app, smart assistant, or other accessory so that the lights can be automated or controlled remotely. Users no longer have to be next to a switch to control the lights.
Conventional light bulbs work by flipping a switch on and off. Sometimes they are hardwired to a dimmer switch, allowing the user to dim or brighten the lights once they are “switched” on. But in general, this is the extent of the functionality of traditional home lighting systems. Smart lighting, on the other hand, gives a user far more control over their lights. The lights are still connected to the building’s power supply, but each light is integrated to a technical platform. This platform allows anyone to control the lights wirelessly with a phone, tablet, or smart assistant (such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa). Smarts lights are very useful for individuals who want the convenience of being in control of their lights while being away from their homes or businesses.
